Doom and Gloom, Bah Humbug!

As a writer of smut stories, I belong to a number of blogs which focus on authors who spend a lot of time pounding the keyboard along with their pud. Recently there have been several posts about declining sales of dirty books. Below is one of my responses and after finishing it, I thought I should post this on my blog.

I just got through reading the 2015 predictions by SmashWord's Mark Coker and he has a lot of good things to say.

A Moment of Silence for Leelah Alcorn

As you may or may not know, a 17-year-old transgender, Leelah Alcorn (#LeelahAlcorn), committed suicide by apparently stepping in front of a speeding tractor trailer in Ohio this Sunday, 28-December-2014.

Born Joshua Alcorn, but like many gays was in the wrong body. From the newspaper articles I’ve read and his suicide note (see bottom of this post), I assume that he had deeply religious parents who could not accept the fact that their son was gay.

Her final message, which she scheduled to be posted after her death read, “My death needs to mean something.”

This is really sick people, how can parents, family, and associates turn such a blind eye to the suffering of our gay, lesbian, and transgender kids that they take the ultimate step? While there are no definite statistics regarding suicides by LGBT young adults, it is apparently much higher than the straight world.

I Love The Hunt

Why Do I Write Smut?

One of the many blogs I subscribe to is ERWA for writers of smut and we've been discussing why we write porn. To me it's a fascinating subject, both porn and writing!

Some people write to "spec" or in other words, be given a topic and produce a story about the topic. This is also similar to writing to a "market" or picking out a target audience and writing to that audience.

Others like me, write what personally turns you on and you hope that others enjoy the same smut as you do. From a practical sense, if you write a story that you can beat off to then it saves you money from having to buy a copy of Penthouse or Hustler and read Letters to the Editor (I only read the articles and never look at the pictures!). LOL

I just finished reading “Girls Only: College Days” by Selena Kitt and that reminded me why she is one of my favorite smut writers. Selena is one of the few writers (men or women) who write actual porn in my opinion. You only have to get past the copyright notice before someone is getting laid. None of those vague descriptions either, Selena dives right in and is equally happy eating pussy or riding a big cock. Her descriptions put you right into the action and if you’re not careful, you’ll probably get your tongue wet.

College Days is about two college girls who show up at a Frat party after one of the girls catches her boyfriend’s video of a young girl taking care of him. Suitably pissed, they walk into the Frat house and are mistaken for two girls who were hired to put on a show for the boys.
